China assaults Taiwan – and the US?

The question of China’s timing of their military assault on Taiwan is an intriguing one to me. I am sure that China would prefer that Biden or Harris were President when the assault occurs, rather than Trump, or any other Republican. I say that only because the way that the US, under Biden, handled the Afghanistan withdrawal, and the way they are not handling Iran’s lack of responsibility for their several proxies, would, I think, give China hope that the US would also not take our defense treaties with Taiwan very seriously. That might mean that China would decide to attack Taiwan later this year, after they have put in place, in the USA, many thousands of Chinese operatives, that keep coming across our border, to help them subdue a US response to their attack on Taiwan, along with a serious cyber-attack on our critical infrastructure.
